Working in the mental health and wellbeing sector is complex and evolving. Mental health stakeholders (both government and non-government organisations) need to keep up to date with their community’s needs, evidence-informed research and be mindful of their own well-being.
Our experience shows that in the North West QLD region, there is a stigma attached to mental health and not all providers are well equipped to recognise and respond to the needs of the local community. People can fall through the cracks, be lost to follow up, not be connected with the right service, or not have their needs satisfied.
The NWQMHN has been established as a collective group of individuals, bringing together stakeholders in the community to support people to actively engage in their own well-being and have the capacity to support others.
